Project 1

Interwoven Space

2024

interior design

Learning Commons is a peoplecentred interior proposal designed to support both individual
focus and shared interaction within a comfortable learning environment. The project explores
how spatial organisation, circulation, and multifunctional furniture can shape the way people
study, communicate, and spend time together. Rather than creating a traditional silent study
room, the design combines private working areas, informal social spaces, and a communal
lecture zone to encourage different ways of learning and connecting. Open stair circulation
and layered timber structures create visual openness while still protecting moments of
privacy and concentration. Through model making and ergonomic testing, the project
investigates how interior space can respond to everyday human behaviour, creating a flexible
and welcoming environment that balances study, rest, communication, and community.
